In Team Coherence, a repository is simply a central location, available to all interested users, where the files archived by Team Coherence are stored. Each repository is controlled by a Server application that contains all the core logic for the Version Control functionality.
To all intents and purposes, the repository can be considered a black box that is used to manage the following items:
Connection to a repository is via standard TCP/IP so the server could, if necessary, reside on the other side of the planet and be accessed using a standard Internet connection.
