As many development teams are now dispersed across several locations and even countries, the ability to allow all the members of a development team full access to a project is very important. With most current SCM tools, cut-down access is provided to allow members of the team access to basic functionality.

Ideally, an SCM tool should provide full check in, check out facilities, regardless of the location of the team member.
